Dr. Brian J. Toleno
Dr. Toleno is a materials scientist and technology strategist specializing in advanced electronic packaging, optical systems integration, and manufacturing scale-up. He is the founder of MateriaSolve, where he advises semiconductor and hardware startups on aligning materials innovation with process integration and high-volume manufacturing readiness.
Previously, Dr. Toleno led materials and process integration initiatives within Meta’s Reality Labs, building and managing teams responsible for evaluating and implementing emerging materials technologies for next-generation AR and VR systems. Prior to Meta, he supported materials and process development for Microsoft’s HoloLens platform.
Earlier in his career at Henkel Electronic Materials, he held global leadership roles in electronics assembly and semiconductor material technologies, aligning development portfolios with leading consumer electronics OEMs and OSATs as well as guiding technical teams across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Dr. Toleno earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Penn State University and his B.S. in Chemistry from Ursinus College. He is a frequent speaker at IPC and SMTA conferences and an author of technical courses and handbook chapters on electronic materials, Pb-free soldering, adhesives, and reliability engineering. Dr. Toleno holds over 40 patents in materials and manufacturing technology.
